Erwinia piriflorinigrans sp. nov., a novel pathogen that causes necrosis of pear blossoms
2010
Eight Erwinia strains, isolated from necrotic pear blossoms in València, Spain, were compared with reference strains of Erwinia amylovora and Erwinia pyrifoliae, both of which are pathogenic to species of pear tree, and to other species of the family Enterobacteriaceae using a polyphasic approach. Phenotypic analyses clustered the novel isolates into one phenon, distinct from other species of the genus Erwinia, showing that the novel isolates constituted a homogeneous phenotypic group. Rep-PCR profiles, PCR products obtained with different pairs of primers and plasmid contents determined by restriction analysis showed differences between the novel strains and reference strains of E. amylovo…
Optimal Flight Path Determination in Turbulent Air: A Modified EKF Approach
2018
By using the Extended Kalman Filter an accurate path following in turbulent air is performed. The procedure employs simultaneously two dierent EKFs: the rst one estimates disturbances, the second one aords to determine the necessary controls displacements for rejecting those ones. To tune the EKFs an optimization algorithm has been designed to automatically determine Process Noise Covariance and Measurement Noise Covariance matrices. The rst lter, by using instrumental measurements gathered in turbulent air, estimates wind components. The second one obtains command laws able to follow the desired ight path. To perform this task aerodynamic coecients have been modied. Such a procedure leads …
AUTOMATIC TAKE-OFF OR LANDING PATH FOLLOWING IN TURBULENT AIR FOR UAS - AN EKF BASED PROCEDURE
2015
By using the Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) an accurate take-off or landing flight path following in turbulent air is performed. The tuned up procedure employs simultaneously two different EKF: the first one estimates gust disturbances, the second one affords to determine the necessary controls displacements for rejecting those ones. In particular, the first filter, by using instrumental measurements gathered in turbulent air, estimates wind components. The second one obtains command laws able to follow the desired flight path. To perform this task aerodynamic coefficients have been modified by adding entirely new derivatives or synthetic increments to basic ones whose might the kind of chang…
Improving membrane photobioreactor performance by reducing light path: operating conditions and key performance indicators
2020
[EN] Microalgae cultivation has been receiving increasing interest in wastewater remediation due to their ability to assimilate nutrients present in wastewater streams. In this respect, cultivating microalgae in membrane photobioreactors (MPBRs) allows decoupling the solid retention time (SRT) from the hydraulic retention time (HRT), which enables to increase the nutrient load to the photobioreactors (PBRs) while avoiding the wash out of the microalgae biomass. The reduction of the PBR light path from 25 to 10 cm increased the nitrogen and phosphorus recovery rates, microalgae biomass productivity and photosynthetic efficiency by 150, 103, 194 and 67%, respectively. The areal biomass product…
Trajectory tracking for a Non-Conventional UAV
2008
The aim of the present paper is the design of a flight control system for a Tandem – Canard UAV, useful in the whole flight envelope, both Out of Ground Effect (OGE) and In Ground Effect (IGE) conditions. Because of the particular arrangement of the studied aircraft, a general mathematical model has been built in order to obtain non-linear analytical equations for longitudinal aerodynamic coefficients both in OGE and in IGE flight. So the dynamic behaviour of the UAV may be studied during every flight phases i.e. in the whole range of altitude. To consider the strong variation of aerodynamic parameters due to the ground effect presence, a robust control technique (LQG/LTR) has been used to …
